About The 2014 Journey

Welcome to the main page of the Spirit of Football 2014 project. As of 30th October 2007, it's now official... Brazil, the only bidder for the championship because of FIFA's now abandoned rotation policy, will host the World Cup in 2014.
As with the previous projects, there will be a weblog for the journey when we're somewhat closer to the date - until then, this page will contain our thoughts on how the trip will develop. For now, we're just happy that we can start to make plans for what will undoubtedly be another epic journey.
The Quick Start Guide
The Ball 2014 will again be played with in a game in Battersea Park, London, reminding us of the origins of the modern game. It will kick off from England and visit every nation between London and Brazil as it heads for the Opening Ceremony in June 2014. In fact, the 9th January 2014 will mark the 150th anniversary of the very first match played under "Football Association" rules, and we plan to kick off from Battersea Park on that very day. An auspicious day to start the trip indeed.
